Limited Student Warranty
Effective for Orders Placed as of August 2023.
About This Warranty
The Limited Student Warranty includes full coverage under LumaDent’s Lifetime Loupes Warranty, plus the following exclusive benefits available only to students enrolled in any accredited academic program, for up to 4 years or until graduation — whichever comes first.
Student-Exclusive Benefits
Extended 4-Year Coverage
- Student coverage lasts through four years of school or until graduation.
- After expiration, coverage continues under the Limited Lifetime Warranty for the original purchaser.
Magnification Adjustment
- Within the first year of purchase, students may waive the rebuild cost upgrade or downgrade the magnification of their loupes— typically a $500 fee.
- Students, however, are still liable for the difference in cost when upgrading to a higher magnification.
Unlimited Rx Changes
- Students can request unlimited prescription updates to their lenses or oculars.
Note: Service fees still apply for:
- Progressive lenses
- High-index lenses
- Blue blocker coatings
Repairs & Service
Student Pricing for Repairs
Exclusively under the student warranty, repair fees for damage caused by accidents are waived.
- Serviceable repair (collimation, re-glue, minor adjustments) - $0
- Battery or headlamp (if non-serviceable) - $50
- Frame replacement (if non-serviceable) - $100
Conditions
- Serviceability is determined by LumaDent's QA Team.
- Repairs will only be performed if the item is deemed serviceable.
Prepaid Shipping (U.S. Students Only)
- For loupes service, LumaDent provides prepaid labels for shipping, both ways.
- For battery and headlamp repairs, students are responsible for shipping costs.
Hassle-Free Trial: Returns & Exchanges
45-Day Trial Period Reminder
- Products may be returned or exchanged an unlimited number of times within the 45-day window.
- If an exchange is made, the 45-day trial restarts upon receipt of the new product.
- Students under the limited student warranty are exempt from the customization fee on TTL Ergo loupes.
Returns
- Returns are accepted only during the 45-day trial period.
- Students are responsible for return shipping costs.
Non-refundable charges apply to:
- Prescription lens services (progressive, high-index, blue blocker)
- PPE, e.g. safety glasses, premium eyewear, headgear, etc. are non-refundable.
Exchanges
- No additional charge to perform an exchange.
- Price differences for upgrades must be paid before shipment. Partial refunds are unavailable for downgrades; however, the original pricing will be retained for future exchanges.
- Outside of the 45-day trial period, students are eligible for a single exchange for loupes of a different magnification.
- Individual components of a headlight package are ineligible for exchange. All parts must be sent to us to exchange for a headlight package.
You are welcome to exchange items to adjust the following:
- Battery color or LED configuration
- Frame style, size, or color
- Magnification level
- Mount type
- Style of Loupes: TTL / Flip-Up, Galilean / Prism
Price differences for upgrades must be paid before shipment. Partial refunds are unavailable for downgrades; however, the original pricing will be retained for any future exchanges.
Not Covered
Even during the student period, damage caused by the following is not covered and may void your warranty:
- Improper use
- Unauthorized modifications or repairs
- Application of adhesives or unapproved chemicals (e.g., alcohol, bleach, CaviWipes™)
- Use of autoclaves or chemiclaves
- Shipping damage or loss of products in transit
- Wear-and-tear on replaceable components (e.g., nose pads, straps)
If voided, repairs are still available but may incur standard service costs (e.g. $500 rebuild).
Transition to Limited Lifetime Warranty
The Limited Student Warranty is valid for four years after the purchase date or until you graduate, whichever comes first. After that:
- You will automatically transition to our Limited Lifetime Warranty
- Standard service pricing applies thereafter (e.g., $500 rebuild fee, no frame remake)
